Re: How do you plan your projects?

Forgive me Sean - though for the record, the answer to your question is don't get distracted or sidelined! So, here we go with some industrial-level sidelining. FS9 is dead, and it's a pain in the arse to develop for. I came in to the MSFS system sometime when it was still an MS-DOS based program. A...

Re: Mississippi ANG 186th ARW

Ah - good news! I was looking for these and failed to find them. Now found them on Avsim (FS9 only, but conversion should be straightforward). Flightplans too.

Re: Newbie ADE question

This may be a case where a completely new airport is the better answer. Hi Tim, with this do you mean start from scratch? So delete everything from the stock airport and then begin from there? Or is there another way to start a new airport? cheers Edwin Given the issue is with the AI engine in FSX,...

Re: Newbie ADE question

Hi Chris, yes the HF2 fix means that the airfield runs perfectly. Indeed, even so far as VFR circuit traffic will stay on the departure runway while it’s flying touch-and-goes, then change to the arrival runway for the final landing. That keeps it out of the way of IFR arrivals - of which there are ...

Re: Newbie ADE question

Well, I couldn't work this out! So I went and asked the question over at FSDev. While I was waiting for an answer, I imported the field into P3Dv4.5 (Hotfix 3). I was working on KMEI, just down the road*, when I noticed that the AI at KMNN appeared to be behaving properly. I went back to FSDev to re...

Re: Newbie ADE question

I’ve been looking at Edwin’s KNMM, and also using the Stinstrom version (FSX conversion from Fly Away Simulation) to try and work out the runway utilisation issues, and it’s very frustrating! 28/10 is now out of use IRL anyway, so it’s easy to take that out. Under normal MSFS logic, the AI should us...

Re: Newbie ADE question

Just to note that the replacement fx file sorted both the crash and the lack of movement.

Re: Newbie ADE question

Thanks guys. I let the sim (P3Dv4) run for several hours last night, and plenty of other traffic arrived and left, but the T-45s stayed rooted to the spot! I’ll try that fx mod and see what happens. I’m pretty sure I don’t have that problem with T-45s elsewhere (Kingsville, for instance, is extremel...

Re: Newbie ADE question

Just to treble-check, I decided to see if the Matrix version of the traffic file would display the same behaviour. That meant loading up P3Dv4 (on my main computer, that's a 40-minute wait!). To do a double-blind check, I used John Stinstrom's KNMM which I know will have few, if any, routing issues....

Re: Newbie ADE question

Hi Edwin interesting one. I firstly installed your airport on my laptop, which has a vanilla installation of FSX:SE on board, and saw exactly what you describe - nothing moves. However, I was getting a 6025 error which was crashing FSX, so I moved it to the installation on my dev computer. That one ...

Re: Newbie ADE question

'Crosswind runways' is about persuading the sim to use more than one runway at once, rather than only the one that's most favoured by the wind. That's relevant for airfields like KSFO, where operations are regularly carried out on both the 10/28 and 01/19s at the same time (spookily similar to the O...

Re: Sewart AFB

Stewart also had "E's" I think: https://military.wikia.org/wiki/Sewart_Air_Force_Base Depends how far back jetrange wan't to retro. The "A" without the nose radome is so ugly. I'd hate to spoil the airframe with it, but apart from that, changing the nose is a heap of work. I'm trying to avoid tryin...

Re: raf 55 squadron and 32 squadron hs125 for HTAI hs125 model

They’re JBS also. I think they might be in the Hangar here as well, but if not you’ll find them on Avsim. They don’t bear close scrutiny by modern standards, but they’re fine for retro AI.

Re: Sewart AFB

It’d be nice to have the A-model Herc with three-bladed props for Sewart- and maybe even the pre-radome nose. But I think John’s had enough of new models in that project! I wonder if you could do a simulation of The Four Horsemen C-130 formation team? If you haven’t heard of them, look them up on Yo...

Re: raf 55 squadron and 32 squadron hs125 for HTAI hs125 model

Dave, the HTAI HS-125 has been converted by the MAIW team, and they've no doubt done a much better job than I did. That's here . The .bmp paints in the FS9 repaint pack you've found will probably work in P3D, but it's easy to convert them to DXT5 format using dxtbmp (get it here ). You'll need to th...

Re: raf 55 squadron and 32 squadron hs125 for HTAI hs125 model

This is the HTAI BAe125-700 in 32 Sqn livery, plus the JBS Dominie in 1980s red. These are converted for FSX/P3D in MCX (you can see I haven't tackled the lights!) with the textures converted to DXT5 using DXTBMP.
